july mood: summer reading.

summerreading-2

For me, summer is one of my favorite times of the year to delve into some new books. I wish I carried the same enthusiasm for reading the rest of the year, but there is just something about summertime that makes me so excited to pick out a new book (or two or three)! Between long plane rides, vacationing and much-needed time spent on the beach (take me back to the Maldives!), I’ve had plenty of time to get lost in some great reads. So today I am talking all about the books I’m currently reading and plan to read this summer.

For those who read (or even saw the movie) Me Before You… you have to check out After You. While I think I preferred the first novel of the series (I couldn’t put it down!), I still enjoyed following Louisa as she tries to pick up the pieces and move on with her life. If you’re someone who needed to know what happened after the last page of the first novel (I’m a happily ever after type girl!), then I highly suggest picking up a copy of After You to find out for yourself.

The next book on my summer reading list was The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. If you’re into suspense and liked books like Gone Girl and Girl on the Train, then this is definitely a book for you! It is a page-turner and helped me get through my long flight from England to San Francisco.

Next up on my list… The Lake House by Kate Morton. Another suspenseful, murder-mystery type… right up my alley. And the final book on my list is Here’s To Us by Elin Hilderbrand. Taking place in her hometown of Nantucket, Hildebrand is known for capturing the true essence of summertime at the beach… outdoor showers, lobster rolls, and all! The perfect beachside, poolside, or lakeside read if you ask me!
