Baby Rose due this fall!

Surprise!!! We are so excited to finally share the happiest of news… Baby BOY Rose is due early October! We are halfway there now (20 weeks!) and feel so unbelievably blessed and lucky to be adding to our little family. Life has taken us on some pretty amazing adventures thus far, but we have a feeling this is going to be the best one yet :). We can’t wait to meet you, little one.

We found out we were pregnant towards the end of January, which was pretty early on (5 weeks I believe!). I woke up one morning and my stomach was feeling a little crampy, but slightly different than normal cramps. For the few days leading up to this, I had felt this way and kept saying to Andy that I thought I was pregnant. He kept telling me not to get my hopes up just in case. But I just knew! Anyways, that morning I got up out of bed without waking Andy and took a pregnancy test. When I saw the positive result, I was so excited that I raced back into our bedroom and just held up the test saying “I knew it, I knew it!” He couldn’t believe it! We were both over the moon.

We waited a few weeks to tell our family, just because it felt so early, and it was also a bit of a crazy time for everyone. But I can’t even tell you how hard it was to keep a secret!!! (Especially because I tell my mom and sister everything.) We finally told my parents and sister over facetime when they were all together (helping my sister pack up before her move from SF to Germany!). I wish we had videoed their reactions, because the look on their faces was just the best!!! Even though they knew (and hoped!) that this news would be coming relatively soon, they were all still so surprised which was so fun :). Facetiming with my brother and sister-in-law was great too… we were so excited to tell our nephew and niece that they are gonna have a little cousin! We asked them if they thought it would be a boy or a girl (this was before we knew) and for some name suggestions 😉 and Luca kept asking when he was going to be here! We were able to tell Andy’s parents over a really nice lunch, and it was so fun to see their reactions in person! Since they see us the most living in England, I think they might’ve had a sneaking suspicion ;). We facetimed all together with Andy’s sister and her husband after lunch and they couldn’t have been more excited (their little guy Dylan and our little guy will be just over a year apart… trouble!!). Telling our family was by far the highlight of the first trimester! (And thank goodness for facetime btw!) This little babe sure is lucky to have the most wonderful grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Looks like I will be outnumbered by my Rose boys (Roo included of course ;), but now that we know it’s a boy, I really can’t imagine it any other way! I had a feeling it was a boy pretty early on. From hearing stories/experiences from friends with boys plus reading all the silly old wives tales, I just had a feeling! When we went in for the gender scan at 16 weeks, I kept telling Andy that I would be shocked if it was a girl! Of course we would’ve been thrilled either way. But I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Andy smile so big. When we went to dinner afterwards to celebrate and just soak it all in, he kept saying “I’m going to have a son.” He is going to be the best daddy. PS- all of Andy’s family and friends were convinced it was a girl, so it was fun to tell them all and see the look on their faces ;).

I can’t tell you how excited I’ve been to do this post. I’m also really looking forward to sharing more about my pregnancy on the blog, as well as my journey into motherhood! So stay tuned for more 🙂 Thanks for following along and cheers to our greatest adventure yet!

…and a special thanks to Aunt Kiki for snapping these photos in London this weekend! And Sophie of a little bird press for the beautiful sign. xo
